Rio Tinto’s Yandicoogina mine is located in the Pilbara region 95km north-west of Newman.
Scope of Work
It is Australia’s largest iron ore mine and plays an important role in ensuring Rio Tinto sustains its significant regional iron ore operations.
GEPL was awarded the contract for Stage One of the Junction South West culvert installation in November 2018, and Stage Two in March 2019.
The project includes:
· Bulk earthworks
· Rock excavation
· Installation of four-barrel, 1200mm diameter corrugated steel pipes (CSP) 120m-length
· Cement-stabilised fill, backfill and surround to CSP
· Scour protection to end treatments of culvert inlet and outlet
· Stream training and embankment rock armour to upstream and downstream of culvert
